Sano listened to the story with vested interest, of course, but his eyes were drawn to Kuro more than her enchanted fire. It lit up her face just so, her eyes sparkling. How he had missed that face. Motherhood hadn’t changed it much, but it had added just a bit more gentleness. He himself felt enchanted. Once the fire dissipated, Sano looked towards the sleepy children in the room. One was out like a light, and the other two were just barely hanging on. He placed a soft kiss in their hair before quietly making his exit with Kuro.
“They’re adorable,” he murmured, snaking his hand into hers as they walked down the hall. “Three fine children.” He slid the door open for Kuro and let her into their room first. He didn’t have his own clothes at the house yet, so he figured he’d just simplify his outfit from earlier further by removing his shirt and belt. There were quite a few nights when he and Shinpachi had slept like this when it was too hot out, and he found it to be comfortable now. Pants weren’t so bad.
He sat down on the large bed and his eyes sought out Kuro. He felt like a beast, but he had missed her in every way, god had he missed her. He opened his mouth to speak, but his words died in his throat. He couldn’t help but watch her change, admiring her form. “Kuro…” he said simply when he couldn’t keep quiet anymore. He still had no words, but the silence was deafening, too.
She smiled as they headed down with him hand in hand, but couldn’t help the nervous beating of her heart. She slipped her hand out and moved to step into the room first, walking toward the dresser. Facing away from him as she began to untie her sash, she couldn’t help but be aware of his gaze lingering on her. It felt both foreign, yet welcoming all at once. Somehow, enticing as well, almost alluring her as she cocked her head to the side. The motion causing more of her hair to slide down her shoulder as she eased off her kimono in a slow manner. She hung them both on the stand for a kimono. Taking her time as she slipped on a yukata, though she kept it partly open as she tied the sash loosely.

“….” Kuro raised an eyebrow at the red-headed girl, shaking her head lightly.
“I understand you wanted to sleep, but I didn’t think it’d be in my own bed..”
